Thomas Louis Contursi

1942-1945

Enter the service in January 1942 and after basic training was shipped to overseas to serve with the Quarter Master Company with a veteran P47 Thunderbolt Fight Group somewhere in England. He was promoted from technician fifth grade to technician fourth grade by Lieutenant General Ira C. Eaker commanding General of the U.S. Eighth Air Force. He was honorable discharged in October 1945.

He joked with friends, family (especially his sons) that he was in the Battle of Piccadilly Circus.

Leonard Kardas

Corporal
3rd Marine Division
1944-1946

Joined the US Marine Corps. in January 1944 and headed to Paris Island, SC for boot camp and then to Camp Lejeune, NC.  He was in the 3rd Marine Division with a mission (unknown to them) to join the war and fight the Japanese.
 
Deployed to San Diego & then Hawaii, to be further trained.  Leaving Hawaii aboard an aircraft carrier, he was part of an antiaircraft unit, still the 3rd Division.  His assignments took him throughwarring factions in Admiralty Island, Guam, Palau, and Angar.
 
He was discharged from the Corps in April 1946 as a Corporal.
Frank Coluccio

Private
1950-1954

Went into the US Air Force in November 1950 were I received basic training at Lakeland Air Force Base, Texas. Then was sent to Warren Air Force Base in Wyoming, were I got into telephone repair. Spent time in California and from there was sent to Alaska, on an island 50 miles from Russia. I spent one year there. I also served in North Carolina and South Carolina where I was finally honorable discharged in November of 1954.

Steve Contursi

Private First Class

His tour of duty took him to the Far East campaign to stop the Japanese invasion. He was wounded in Burma and received the Purple Hear Medal. Subsequently, he was honorably discharges.
